Description:
The Senior Benefits Accountant reports to the ESS Benefits Accounting Manager. They will provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff to ensure appropriate invoice payments, accurate periodic account reconciliations, and Form xxxx/ Annual Benefit Plan Financial Statement generation support.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
: Provide oversight and review to ensure accurate and timely completion of reconcilliations and filings. Reviews and verifies the analysis and inputs performed/provided by benefits accountants to ensure accuracy and correct accounting treatment.
: Works closely with Corporate Financial Reporting, Benefits teams and external benefit providers to provide explanation, guidance or recommend solutions to issues
: Review/approve initial inter/intra:company/departmental allocations and journal entries
: Ensure periodic account reconciliations are properly performed on time for all accounts as assigned including health, welfare, retirement, equity, payroll and cash
: Serve as resource for external/internal auditors testing SOX Controls and Benefit Plan reporting to include 11k and xxxx
: Liaise with internal/external entities and subsidiaries to obtain required information; respond to inquiries
: Maintain up:to:date process documentation for areas of responsibility
: Recommend process improvements to create greater efficiency and improve internal controls
: Escalate unresolved issues to Manager
: Other special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree coupled with 6+ years' Accounting or Finance experience; OR an AA coupled with 8+ years accounting or finance experience.
: Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
: Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and accounting systems
Desired Qualifications:
: Expert Excel and Access skills
: Working knowledge of Costpoint, COGNOS, Hyperion
